The second volume of the Fly Fishing Academy, deal with the actual fishing techniques. The set is the beautiful and wild Rio Grande in the southern Argentina. The river holds some of the world’s biggest sea trout. In the film Henrik deals with subjects like fishing strategy, watercraft and techniques, all spiced up with breathtaking action packed footage of takes, fights and successful landing. Although the film is set in exotic surroundings the lesson learned by watching it is easily transferred to your local fishing, the same set of rules still applies all around the world when targeting sea trout in running water. Distance and Delicacy works on subjects like how to overcome gusting winds and still manage long and precise casting, and just as important how to efficiently fish the fly without spooking the fish.

Cracking the code
Henrik Mortensen concentrates on the art of salmon fishing - assessing the situation, formulating a strategy and executing the plan. His instructions run the gamut, from reading a river to effectively fishing for the elusive salmon. This edition follows him throughout the entire process of catching salmon under tense and unfamiliar conditions in early season, using real-life scenarios.
Henrik is back in the land of the Midnight Sun near the Polar Circle - Iceland, amidst the world’s finest salmon rivers. The rivers are quite demanding, concerning casting techniques and, especially, fishing strategies. Make no mistake, correctly reading the river and decoding its hidden messages is a precondition for success. Henrik’s method of decoding the messages of the water enables him to pinpoint the exact spots in a pool where the salmon lie and what fly and technique to use.
Additionally, he goes in depth with the noble art of hitching. Hitching gives one the ultimate pleasure of fly fishing because the angler can follow the fly the entire time to see how and when the salmon strikes.

The Scandinavian Spey Cast

På denne DVD fokuserer Henrik Mortensen på det, som han kalder "det skandinaviske speykast". Han sætter kastet i perspektiv ved at besøge den skotske flod Dee for at se på det klassiske speykasts historiske rødder sammen med en klassisk, skotsk ghillie. Han rejser derefter til Canadas smukke Gaspé halvø i det østelige Quebec for at illustrere sin moderne, forbedrede udgave igennem praktisk fiskeri i tre af verdens mest udfordrende floder: Grande Cascapedia, Bonaventure og Petite Cascapedia. Under relativt dårlige forhold tidligt på sæsonen med lav t og meget klart vand og få fisk, viser fordelene ved det skandinaviske speykast sig klart.

Henriks forbedring af det skandinaviske speykast og hans enestående måde at bevæge kroppen i kastet bliver vist på brinkerne af Mörrum i Sverige. På begge kontinenter - Europa og Nordamerika - viser han hvornår det giver mening at kaste langt og hvornår man skal kaste kort og hvilken line og forfang man skal bruge under forskellige forhold.
